A Pedistrian was struck by a VIA train at the Tracks at DArcy by University Street in Cobourg.
A person claiming to be an eyewitness tells MBC, that they witnessed it and said it was an accident…The woman ran to beat the train and slipped.
Sergeant Kerr of Cobourg Police tells us more.
Cobourg EMS tell MBC the victim is a female – no word yet on the age of the person who was struck by the train.
The train remains stopped on site.
At the time of the police release, no foul play is suspected.
The local Coroner has been requested to attend, and Cobourg police and CN police are actively working to investigate the scene and identify the female.
Officials are reminding its not just drivers who have to respect an active railway crossing.
The Cobourg Police Service is advising that, while the investigation continues, the crossing at DArcy Street has now been cleared of the VIA Rail train and local vehicle traffic may now proceed.
