The numbers are out for Cobourg’s Festive R.I.D.E program. From November 21 through to the end of December, police say they stopped 3,765 vehicles and laid several charges. On December 8, a 54-year-old Cobourg man was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and operatiing a vehcile with over 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. On December 16, a man was chared with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs. There were also two, 3-day automatic driver’s license suspensions for having over 50 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, five charges related to the Highway Traffic Act and 23 warnings related to the HTA such as improper headlights, seatbelt infractions and expired permits.
