Community Care is celebrating the volunteers that make Meals on Wheels possible.
The agency – with six offices across Northumberland – is part of the provide-wide initiative ‘March for Meals.’ All this month, the Ontario Community Support Association’s working with local groups to reinforce the need for healthy meals programs to address poverty, food insecurity and our aging population.
The Brighton office hosted ‘Local celebrity day’ last Thursday – and Oldies 100.9 hit the road to help make deliveries. And at the end of this month myFM 93.3 & Classic Rock 107.9 will do the same.
Program Coordinator Leiann Peart (PR: Leanne PEER-it, like ‘spirit,’) says it’s about bringing awareness to the many programs and services offered in our community.
Homecooked meals are just $6 each, offered twice weekly on Tuesday and Thursdays. Volunteers are always needed.
