So far this year five people have died as a result of an accident involving a motorcycle. Sgt. Kerry Schmidt with the OPP’s Highway Safety Division says people need to keep their eyes on the road and be aware of their surroundings.
In 2016 they there were 749 crashes involving motorcycles, 31 of them fatal and 33 lives lost. Schmidt says people on bikes need to drive defensively as almost half of all the collisions last year saw the person on the motorcycle not at fault for the crash.
