Dr. Kathleen Barnard-Thompson of Cobourg has been named a 2017 recipient of the Ontario College of Family Physicians Regional Family Physician of the Year Award.
This award is only given to 7 recipients in Ontario. Dr. Amy Catania (KA-TANYA), Family Physician and Board Member with the Ontario College of Family Physicians and she also chaired the awards committee at the ODSP for the past two years, tells us more.
The announcement came during Family Doctor Week in Canada, which ran November 6-11, and is an opportunity to acknowledge the vital work family physicians do to help keep Ontarians healthy. Dr. Catania tells us more.
Throughout her 12-year medical career, Dr. Barnard-Thompson has provided the full scope of family practice care – in family medicine clinics, the emergency department, nursing homes, hospital wards, and in obstetrical and newborn care. And recognized for her work in medical education in 2015, winning the Rural Ontario Medical Program Preceptor of the Year Award.
