For the month of March, Cobourg Police will be targeting Stop Sign offences.
The Selective Traffic Enforcement Project (S.T.E.P.) for the month of March, will focus on offences relating to those who disobey Stop Sign’s in Cobourg and the surrounding area.
Offences such as Failing to Stop, Stopping in the Wrong Place and Careless Driving will result in fines ranging from $100 to $2000, with 3 to 6 demerit points.
These are just name a few of the offences and penatlties that will be the focus.
The Cobourg Police Service reminds motorists that when approaching an intersection controlled by a Stop Sign to slow down before the intersection and come to a complete stop. A complete stop involves having no forward momentum and no forward movement of your vehicle.
Police are also reminding pedestrians and cyclists to obey Stop Signs to ensure the safety for all on the roads.
