Health Officials are urging residents to take precautions when outside as the eastern part of Northumberland County is now considered a “high-risk” area for black legged ticks.
From Colborne, to east of the border of our jurisdiction, the ministry has identified as a high-risk area, including south to the 401, according to Richard Ovcharovich, Manager of Environmental Health for HKPR District Health.
Since 2011, Lyme Disease cases has been on the rise in the province.
So far this year, there have been 5 confirmed human cases of Lyme Disease within the Health Unit’s region.
