Member of Parliament for Northumberland-Peterborough South Kim Rudd announced the launch of the 2018 Canada Student Summer Jobs grant program for Northumberland.
Applications are being accepted now until February 2nd and application forms can be found at Canada.ca/Canada-summer-jobs.
The program provides funding for not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers, and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees to create summer job opportunities for students aged 15 to 30.
Not-for-profit employers are eligible for reimbursement of up to 100% of the minimum hourly wage. All employers may be eligible for additional funding of up to $3,000 per student with disabilities to accommodate the student within the workplace.
Rudd said in a statement that she is thrilled with the announcement and …the ridings budget for youth summer job creation has increased from $284,000 in 2015 to just over $563,000 for 2018…Its anticipated that this funding will increase the number of students who will be eligible for this program from 113 in 2015 to over 220 again this year.
