Flooding is affecting about 30 homes along Brighton’s waterfront heading into the long weekend.
About 25,000 sandbags have been used so far, as the municipality continues to monitor critical areas affected by floodwaters.
Mayor Mark Walas tried to call an emergency control group meeting this afternoon, but says staff felt it wasn’t needed. He adds that staff are reporting the municipality is in a hold position where water levels are staying consistent.
The municipality thanks the volunteers, staff, neighbouring communities and individual members of council for their continued support. Some homeowners on Ontario Street are reporting have lost lower level rooms due to groundwater flooding.
