Representatives from Northumberland Hills Hospital, the Northumberland OPP, Cobourg Police Service and Lou Rinaldi, MPP for Northumberland-Quinte West and and Central East LHIN (Central East Local Health Integration Network) made an announcement today (March 8) regarding the new mobile crisis mental health support in the area.
This spring M-HEART, which stands for Mental Health Engagement and Response Team, will be in operation 5 days a week, combining supports from police and health services to better assist individuals with mental health and addiction issues all across Northumberland.

From a justice and health system perspective, benefits could include increased capacity of limited resources within our community through improved coordination, collaboration and connection, with the idea to be a reduction of Emergency Department visits.
