For 25-years, communities have been encourages to look at how they use water in their community and ways they can help mother nature.
Rain Barrel’s Leah Pomerantz says a big way to help your pocket and the earth is collect water in your own backyard.
Pomerantz says rain water is meant to go back and replenish the earth but often times, due to how towns are made, it is sent into sewers and not filling it’s purpose.
Pomerantz adds using water collection units are a great way to correct an ongoing problem.
A Rain Barrel’s fundraiser for the Canadian Fire Fighters Museam will be selling the rain collection units but they need to be ordered by April 19th, and pickup is on April 28th from 10 a.m. til 2 p.m. at Trade Tech Industries in Port Hope, located at 10 Robertson Street.
This will not only help the environment but it will give a portion of the cost back to the group to use in the community.
