Environment Canada has issues a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.
Weather officials say conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
Conditions are expected to be favourable for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening as a cold front moves through.
Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats.
Torrential downpours may also suddenly reduce visibility resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
