As one doctor leaves his family practice in Northumberland, another has been recruited to take it over.
Dr. Mark Essak was one of the doctors that started the Cobourg Health Centre in 1990, a clinic that has since grown to a team of eight doctors, service more than 8,000 patients.
Dr. Marcus Cunningham has been chosen by the West Northumberland Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee to take over Dr. Essak’s practice, ensuring seamless care for his patients.
Dr. Cunningham graduated from the University of Calgary before doing his family medicine residency at Queen’s University and as interest in obstetrics and emergency medicine.
He will join doctors at the Cobourg Health Centre on Elgin Street, as well as attending to his patients admitted to Northumberland Hills Hospital.
Dr. Cunningham says this is the type of practice he’s always hoped to have, and knows he has big shoes to fill taking over for Dr. Essak.
Dr. Cunningham will not be accepting new patients at this time, but if you’re looking for a family doctor, you can contact Health Care Connect at 1-800-445-1822 or visit northumberladdocs.com.
