Bob Crate was sworn in as the next Warden of Northumberland County yesterday (Dec 16).
It was the final meeting of Northumberland County council for 2020, and the Mayor of Trent Hills says it’s an honour to be unanimously voted into the role by fellow councillors.
Though, Crate has not been voted into the position at an easy time.
County council will have plenty to keep them busy as the county tries to recover from COVID-19.
Crate says the other top two focuses in recovery is focusing on broadband connectivity across Northumberland, and a county-wide tourism strategy.
The next deputy warden of the county was also selected at yesterday’s meeting.
While she won’t take the oath until the next meeting of council (January 27), Mandy Martin will be the second person to ever fill the role in Northumberland.
Crate says he’s looking forward to working closely with the Cramahe Township mayor over the next year.
Crate was the county’s first ever deputy warden, and has been a member of Northumberland County council since 2017.
