Technology developed right here in Northumberland is supporting the health of frontline workers.
CleanRide UV-C uses UV-C LED technology to kill bacteria and viruses, including COVID-19 from surfaces and the air.
Paul VandeGraaf, tells us more.
CleanRide has been put to use in every Cobourg Police Service vehicle, several Cobourg and Trent Hills Fire Department vehicles and in Public Works vehicles for the town.
VandeGraaf says having access to this technology in the midst of a global pandemic is incredible.
The chief says the device can be used any time throughout the shift as well if the officer has concerns, or if an accused person has been in the back seat.
VandeGraaf says what’s truly incredible, is that through testing, the timing has been improved to take just four minutes to sanitize the entire vehicle.
He continues by saying while CPS piloted the Team Eagle product, it’s not being used exclusively in Cobourg.
VandeGraaf gives full credit for the success of this product and the pilot partnership with Cobourg Police to the V13 Policetech Accelorator.
The technology being used by Team Eagle was also tested in labs by Western University to confirm it kills novel coronavirus as well as other viruses and bacteria.
