Port Hope is working with Toronto non-profit group Community Researchers, for the first intake of a summer research project about youth programming in the community, (Community Researchers had a call for proposals in 2021 and Port Hope was one of eight projects selected to be part of the initiative.)
Mayor Bob Sanderson says the municipality’s parks, recreation and culture team will work with Community Researchers on the initiative, looking at data and possible solutions to help support local organizations, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eight researchers from Brock University’s Centre for Sport Capacity, the Centennial College School of Hospitality, Tourism, and Culinary Arts, and The Bridge at University of Toronto Scarborough will receive training as part of the program.
The project’s scheduled to be completed by Aug. 2021 (other groups that are participating in the program include: the Canadian National Exhibition, Gardens Ottawa, and Parks and Recreation Ontario.)
