Flags at Northumberland County facilities will remain at half-mast today to mark the tragic loss of four family members in London, Ontario following a car attack on Sunday (June 6), after a man allegedly targeted a Muslim family and ran them down, killing four and injuring a boy.
London Police Chief Steve Williams said that the two women aged 74 and 44, a 46-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl were killed and a nine-year-old boy was seriously injured.
County Warden Bob Crate remarks that, “On behalf of Northumberland County Council, staff and the entire community, our thoughts go out to the victims—including our best wishes for healing and recovery for the child in hospital—and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends grieving this senseless tragedy. Our community stands with you in this grief, and resoundingly rejects Islamophobia, and all forms of racism and hate.”
