After being in operation for two months, the trial period of the Commuter Connect shuttle service is going well.
That’s according to Erica Benjamin, Communications & Marketing Lead for Hop In Technologies, one of the partners working to make the project happen.
Hop In is working with Metrolinx, Northumberland County, and Community Care Northumberland to have a 12-month trial period of a public transit service designed to transport people around Northumberland. The shuttle also connects to the Oshawa Go Station, so residents have a way to get into the GTA.
Benjamin said the program has got a lot of interest, even from non-riders.
She said the service allows people in all types of situations, like work or school, to have greater access to more locations.
With a large number of residents in Northumberland being older, Benjamin said the service allows more transit options for the elderly.
