The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) would like to inform residents that the XBB.1.5 COVID-19 vaccine will be available in the coming weeks.
Higher-risk individuals will have access to the XBB.1.5 COVID-19 vaccine before the general public in the upcoming weeks.
This applies to residents aged 65 and above, pregnant individuals, adults and babies with chronic health conditions, children aged 6 months to 4 years old, Indigenous peoples and their household members, as well as members of racialized and other equity-deserving communities.
The administration to the general public, starting from the age of 12 and up, is expected to commence in late October or early November. For those aged 6 months to 11 years, please call the HKPR District Health Unit at 1-866-888-4577 ext. 1507 to schedule an appointment.
The Ministry of Health recommends a dose of this vaccine to safeguard against the new Omicron XBB variant.
Residents who haven’t received a vaccine in the last six months or haven’t been previously vaccinated are encouraged to initiate the vaccination series.
How to Book an Appointment
Appointments can be booked through the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre online or by calling 1-833-943-3900 or 1-855-797-0007 for those who are deaf, hearing or speech impaired.
