Bluebirds is the story of three young women who volunteer to join the Canadian Army Medical Corps to serve during WW1.
Christy, Maggie, and Bab have crossed the Atlantic to care for wounded soldiers during the Great War. Despite the terrible injuries they must deal with, they manage to stay hopeful as the dangers of the front draw closer to their hospital.
As each woman becomes accustomed to her duties and patients, they reveal more personal details to one another and through letters to loved ones.
Artistic Director Florence Fletcher told us more about three diverse women.
The story follows these three dedicated nurses, from different parts of Canada, who come together while working to heal Canadian soldiers in France.
According to Fletcher, it’s a true-life picture of their experiences.
Performances begin Friday evening at Victoria Hall and wrap up on Saturday with a matinee and evening show.
Fletcher tells us this play by Canadian author Vern Theisen is a poignant tale that is a perfect precursor to Remembrance Day observances.
