Northumberland OPP say one person is facing charges after a single-vehicle collision in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
On Monday, March 18, 2024, at about 5:20 p.m., Northumberland OPP said police responded to a report of a pick-up truck in a ditch in the area of Concession Road 2 and Platt Road in Warkworth.
Officers shortly afterwards reported finding the vehicle at Gravel Road having sustained damage. There were no injuries reported, said police.
Following an interaction with a driver, police said they started an impaired driving investigation.
As a result of an investigation, the accused was arrested and transported to a detachment for further testing, said police.
Police said a 41-year-old Warkworth resident was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), dangerous operation, drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit, fail to report accident, fail to remain, and operate unsafe vehicle.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
Police said a further 90-day administrative driver licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Cobourg court at a future date, said police.
Northumberland OPP are continuing to remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drugs is safe to consume when behind the wheel.
Police continue to encourage citizens to report suspected impaired driving and to call 911 to report it.
