What began as a discussion on public safety – the removal of a wall at the Port Hope file factory that is on the verge of collapse – became a wider debate on preserving heritage buildings.
Deputy Mayor Holloway Wadhwani echoed the frustration of many in attendance on the trying to address issues that have been ignored for decades.
In the end, council opted to limit demolition to just the area of the site posing a risk to public safety and to address further heritage concerns at a future date.
