In it’s 21st year, the Business Achievement Awards once again celebrated local achievements with a list of recipients. Amongst the highlighted winners, President of Spoolon Manufacturing, Bill Ito, became the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award, also known as the James Crossen Award. His daughter, Dana Ito, spoke briefly about her father.
The Mayor’s Award went to tech startup Solvest Inc., who launched their business at Cobourg’s Venture13 office – that’s according to the company’s Business Development Manager, Conrad Hunter, who says these awards should give local entrepreneurs a lot of hope.
It was highlighted during the event that this year had the most startups in contention for the ‘New Startup of The Year’ Award. This year’s recipient Circa 1818, is a local cannabis retailer. Owner Brandon Hartmann told us more.
As for a total rundown of the remaining award winners: Schmidt Law Legal Services received the ‘Business & Consumer Services Award,’ The Ignite Company was presented the ‘Health, Wellness & Beauty Award,’ Prep Food Co. received the ‘Hospitality & Tourism Award,’ ‘The Chamber Chair Award’ was presented to individual Liam Cragg, Sounds of the Next Generation (SONG) received the Non-Profit Sector Award, Evermeadow Farms received the ‘Manufacturing & Agribusiness Award,’ Quinn’s Blooms and Greenery was presented the ‘Retail Trade Award’ and the ‘Skilled Trades Award’ went to EC Builders.
