Cobourg police say an Ajax man is facing charges after police responded to a report of alleged theft.
On the morning of Monday, March 25, at about 11 a.m., the Cobourg Police Service said police received a report of theft from a business in the Covert and George streets area.
Staff reported that multiple items had been taken from the property, said police. The complainant located the property at an address on Division Street near Spencer Street, added police.
Responding officers allege they located an individual in possession of the property.
As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old Ajax man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, uttering threats, and breach of probation, reported police, on Wednesday, March 27.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released, said police.
