For the first time since 2016, the Easter weekend falls during the month of March.
Brighton, Cobourg and Port Hope Municipal offices will be closed on Friday, March 29, 2024. Cobourg staff will be back on Monday, but Brighton and Port Hope staff won’t be in the office until Tuesday April 2.
Cobourg and Port Hope Transit will not run on Good Friday but both will offer service on Saturday with normal service resuming on Monday for Cobourg and a reduced schedule for Port Hope.
Brighton
Recreation Facilities
The King Edward Park Arena will be closed on Friday and Monday
Libraries
The Brighton Library will be closed on Friday, Sunday and Monday but open with regular hours on Saturday. The Codrington Branch will also be closed on Friday and Monday, but open as usual on Saturday and Sunday.
Cobourg
Municipal Closures on Friday, March 29, include:
Art Gallery of Northumberland (55 King Street West, Third Floor, West Wing)
Building 7 Public Works will be closed, however on-call staff can be reached for emergencies by calling the after-hours number: 905-372-9971.
Cobourg Community Centre (750 D’Arcy Street)
Cobourg Public Library (200 Ontario Street) – The library will also be closed on Sunday, March 31, and Monday, April 1.
Venture13 Innovation & Entrepreneurship Centre (739 D’Arcy Street) – closed but open to members
Victoria Hall (55 King Street West)
Transit will operate as usual for the remainder of the weekend including regular service on Monday, April 1, 2024 (Easter Monday).
Port Hope
Administrative building closures:
Municipal administrative buildings are closed on Friday, March 29 and Monday, April 1.

Transit service impacts:
Municipal Transit service will run on a modified schedule for the holiday weekend.
Friday, March 29 – no transit service
Saturday, March 30 – standard Saturday hours
Sunday, March 31 – no service on Sundays
Monday, April 1 – reduced schedule (7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

Friday, March 29 – Arena closed, pool 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 30 – Standard Saturday hours
Sunday, March 31- Arena open, pool 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Monday, April 1 – Standard Monday hours
Town Park Recreation Centre
Friday, March 29 – Closed
Saturday, March 30 – Standard Saturday hours
Sunday, March 31 – Closed
Monday, April 1 – Standard Monday hours
Port Hope Public Library
The Port Hope Public Library is operating on a revised schedule for both the Mary J. Benson and the Hub branch:
