A Quinte West resident is facing a slew of charges after police say they executed a warrant as part of a drug-trafficking investigation.
On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, Quinte West OPP confirmed more than 10 charges were laid as a result of their investigation.
Police said at about 6 a.m. Tuesday, the OPP’s community street crime unit (CSCU), with help from the OPP’s tactics and rescue unit (TRU), emergency response team (ERT), and members of Quinte West OPP, executed a search warrant at a residence on O’Neil Crescent as part of a drug-trafficking investigation.
As a result, police said an individual was arrested resulting in a firearm, cash, ammunition, suspected cocaine, oxycodone, MDMA (ecstasy), amphetamine, psilocybin (mushrooms) and other items suspected to be related to alleged drug-trafficking being confiscated.
Police said Michael Bolger, 43, of Quinte West was charged with numerous offences, including:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.
- Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking.
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs.
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm.
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm.
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.
- Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.
- Possession of a firearm prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime.
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin.)
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville, said police Tuesday.
Police have released no further details.
