Last night, Port Hope celebrated it’s 36th Civic awards ceremony, recognizing the contribution of some exceptional individuals who dedicate their time to improving Port Hope.
One of those celebrated last night was Jennifer Mercer and Classic Rock’s York Bell Smith, who acted as host for the evening, caught up to her after she was honoured with the Outstanding Citizen Award.
Many will recognize Jennifer who owns Jennifer’s Jazz It Up! where she acts as a role model to many young people.
Mayor Olena Hankivsky expressed her pride, stating, “The Civic Awards program reflects our community’s spirit and the exceptional individuals who dedicate themselves to improving Port Hope. Our community’s deep roots in volunteerism and mutual support are what make it truly special, and it’s an honour to recognize this alongside my fellow Council members.”
Councillor Adam Pearson, who is also the Chair of the Civic Awards committee couldn’t have asked for a better night.
Owen Cahill received the Outstanding Youth Award, and Jennifer Mercer was honoured with the Outstanding Citizen Award, both shining examples of commitment to volunteerism in the community.
Post-ceremony, attendees enjoyed refreshments in the Capitol Theatre lobby, from a selection of local businesses that included Milly’s Market, Haute Goat, Jim’s Pizzeria, Prep Food Co., Frosted Flour Co., Olympus Burger, and the Beamish House Pub.
