Northumberland OPP say in recent days they’ve made another four impaired driving arrests after four unrelated alleged incidents.
Police are continuing to work diligently to keep roads safe in Northumberland, said police, on Monday, March 18, when detailing calls that resulted in charges in recent days.
Here’s a quick rundown of the calls:
On March 15, at about 9:20 a.m., police said they responded to a complaint from a citizen about a driver who dropped off their child for an activity on Dale Road in the Township of Hamilton.
Police said they subsequently located the motorist and then started an impaired operation investigation.
As a result of an investigation, police said a 37-year-old from the Township of Hamilton was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
In another call on March 16, at about 4:30 a.m., OPP said they responded to a report of a single-vehicle in the ditch on County Road 45 in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand. The individual was transported by paramedics to a hospital with reported minor injuries, said police.
As a result of an investigation, police said a 32-year-old Campbellford resident was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
Then, on March 17, at about 3:30 p.m., police allege they stopped a vehicle for speeding on County Road 28 in the Municipality of Port Hope. Police said they were led into an impaired operation investigation.
A 33-year-old from Newtonville was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and speeding, said police.
Also on March 17, at about 6:30 p.m., police said they stopped another vehicle travelling westbound on Hwy. 401 in the Township of Hamilton for allegedly speeding. Again, police said the officer was led into an impaired operation investigation.
As a result of an investigation, police said a 27-year-old Victoriaville, Que. resident was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and speeding.
None of these charges in any of the alleged instances have been proven in court.
The accused individuals are scheduled to appear in Cobourg later, said police.
All also received additional 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspensions and vehicles were impounded for seven days, said police.
Police are continuing to remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive.
