The CIBC branch in Tamworth will be closing its doors next summer. A notice was sent out last week regarding the closure. The Banking Centre will be closing on Thursday, July 11, 2019 and merging with the CIBC in Napanee. An e-mail from Jason Wesley, Senior Consultant, Public Relations with CIBC, states “over 80 per cent of our client transactions take place outside of a banking centre, through online, mobile and telephone banking. As a result of this shift, weve made adjustments to our network that includes a small number of rural and urban banking centre closures.” The CIBC branch in Deseronto also closed it’s doors in 2016 and just last year so did the Bloomfield branch. There will be a community information meeting at the Stone Mills Township office to allow clients and the community to share views and concerns but no date is know at this time.
