There’s a two way race for the mayor’s seat in Port Hope, but they’re both familiar faces.
Current councillor Terry Hickey is challenging current mayor Bob Sanderson for the role as head of council.
Hickey says when he was looking at his role as councillor and how he liked to understand his portfolio of works and engineering, he was wanting to bring that aspect to every portfolio.
Hickey says that worked out well for him and he didn’t mind doing it, but wanted to bump it up a notch and do this as the mayor.
Hickey adds that key issues are making improvements for those who currently live here and attract new residents.
He feels high speed internet, good cell service and a mode of transportation to get residents into Toronto when they need to head to the city would be key initiatives over the next four years.
